Words cannot describe the excitement we are feeling around here at the William L. Brown Farm Market (WLB Farm Market)! We have formed a partnership with one of Georgia’s favorite chef and cookbook authors, Virginia Willis. You may remember her from growing up in Montezuma!
You will be excited to see an upcoming Instagram promotion as well as amazing new Southern recipes that you can make in your own kitchen using fresh ingredients and some of our gourmet sauces and marinades.
Georgia-born French-trained chef, she has made chocolate chip cookies with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, foraged for berries in the Alaskan wilderness, harvested capers in the shadow of a smoldering volcano in Sicily, and hunted for truffles in France. She is talent and chef-instructor for the digital streaming platform Food Network Kitchen; her segments feature authentic and innovative Southern cooking.
She is also the author of Secrets of the Southern Table: A Food Lover’s Tour of the Global South. Her other books include Lighten Up, Y’all; Bon Appétit, Y’all; Basic to Brilliant, Y’all; Okra; and Grits. Lighten Up, Y’all won a James Beard Foundation Award of Excellence in the Focus on Health Category. Lighten Up, Y’all as well as her first cookbook, Bon Appétit, Y’all, were finalists in the Best American Cookbook for the International Association of Cookbook Awards and were also named by the Georgia Center of the Book as “Books Georgians Should Read.”
As mentioned earlier, one of the very first things we are planning is an Instagram promotion with Virginia and her good friend and cookbook author Belinda Smith Sullivan. The winner will receive a box (13-count) of WLB Farm Market’s finest peaches as well as Belinda’s peach cookbook, “just Peachy.” This Friday, July 10th, look for a photo of the cover of just Peachy on Virginia’s instagram feed. You’ll see the rules to enter to win!
